1. Safety Neighbourhood

It's my neighbourhood, a Kidsure neighbourhood And everybody knows, it's my place to grow
With my family, we're singing a melody, A Kidsure safety neighbourhood
On a safety walk, on a safety talk With my Mom and Dad, and we're really glad
We remember, to be careful A Kidsure safety neighbourhood

Welcome to the Kidsure safety neighbourhood, everybody This is the best neighbourhood in the world, 'cause all the kids here are safe
We learn the golden rules of safety, and grow up to Be our best!

It's my neighbourhood, a Kidsure neighbourhood And everybody knows, it's my place to grow
With my family, we're singing a melody, A Kidsure safety neighbourhood (repeat) See you there!

2. Safety Rule #2 - The Buddy System

The Golden Rules of Safety! Is it, don't put your finger in the socket? No, everybody knows that! Then what is it?
I’m safer when I walk or play with other people when I’m outside. I always use the BUDDY SYSTEM.

3. Everybody Needs a Buddy

Hey, hey, hey! Hey, hey, hey! Everybody needs a buddy, everybody needs one (Hey, hey, hey!)
Everybody needs someone to play with Everybody needs someone
When it's time to go outside and play, hey! When it's time to walk to school
Then it's time to buddy up for safety Buddy system is the rule

A buddy to play with, Be my Buddy! A buddy to be with, Be my Buddy!
A buddy to walk with, Be my Buddy! Everybody needs a buddy
A buddy to help you, Be my Buddy! A buddy you help to, Be my Buddy!
A buddy walks with you, Be my Buddy! Everybody needs a buddy now

Everybody needs a buddy, everyday (Hey, hey, hey!) Everybody needs a buddy, when we play
Everybody needs a buddy, everybody needs one (Hey, hey, hey!) Everybody needs someone to play with Everybody needs someone

When I play I'm going to find somebody, someone who can help me (Hey, hey, hey!) When I play I'm going to play with a buddy, everyday (repeat)

4. Safety Rule #5 - Stop, Look and Listen

Another Golden Rule of Safety Is it, don't play on the highway? No, everybody knows that! Oh, what is it?
I always watch out for cars when I’m riding my bike or playing outside. If I want to cross the street, I always STOP, LOOK and LISTEN for traffic first.

5. Ride My Bike

We're cruising! Just got a brand new bike and it's pretty cool Soon I'm going to ride all the way to school
First I've got learn a few safety rules I'll be ready for the road and the traffic too

chorus
I'm going to ride my bike, I'm going to put my helmet on,
I've got a light and a horn and reflectors on, Real flashy clothes When I ride my bike

Oh, oh, back at you! You know you've got to watch those parked cars
We ride on the right side in a straight line When I'm with my friends we ride one at a time
We go single file and we stop at the sign We watch the parked cars and we have a good time

chorus
I'm going to ride my bike, I'm going to put my helmet on, I've got a light and a horn and reflectors on, Real flashy clothes When I ride my bike
Hey, how you doing? Back at you,

ah, here comes a turn, we better use our signals
For a left turn, put your left arm out For a right turn, left arm, elbow bent up
Stop, left arm, elbow bent down Always look and listen and look all around

What? Here's one for you. Now, use both brakes when you stop That way you don't flip over!
Just got a brand new bike and it's pretty cool Soon I'm going to ride all the way to school
First I've got learn a few safety rules I'll be ready for the road and the traffic too

chorus
I'm going to ride my bike, I'm going to put my helmet on, I've got a light and a horn and reflectors on, Real flashy clothes When I ride my bike Ride my bike, I'm going to put my helmet on, I've got a light and a horn and reflectors on, Real flashy clothes When I ride my bike Oh, oh, I'm just trying to have some fun And ride my bike!

6. Safety Rule #8 - I Trust My Feelings

Another Golden Rule of Safety! Is it, don't put your finger in the toaster? No, everybody knows that! Then what is it?
I trust my feelings and I’m not afraid to do what’s right. I am an important person and I deserve to feel safe.

7. I Trust My Feelings

I'm pretty smart, I'm pretty cute, I'm happy just to be with you I'm wonderful, and beautiful, and all together huggable
And where we go, I like to show,
I trust my feelings

My feelings are my friends, they help me to decide If I'm feeling good, if I'm feeling right
If I'm unsure, or scared at all
I trust my feelings
If I need some help I'll ask my feelings for advice Who can I trust? That lady seems nice
And if I'm scared. I'll shout it out
I trust my feelings

'cause I'm pretty smart, I'm pretty cute, I'm happy just to be with you I'm wonderful, and beautiful, and all together huggable
And where we go, I like to show,
I trust my feelings

My feelings are my friends, they help me to decide If I'm feeling good, if I'm feeling right
If I'm unsure, or scared at all
I trust my feelings

'cause I'm pretty smart, I'm pretty cute, I'm happy just to be with you I'm wonderful, and beautiful, and all together huggable
And where we go, I like to show,
I trust my feelings
'cause I'm pretty smart, I'm pretty cute, I'm happy just to be with you I'm wonderful, and beautiful, and all together huggable
And where we go, I like to show,
I trust my feelings (repeat)

8. KidSURE Help Me Child ID Story

My friend and I went for a walk It seemed no further than half a block But when I turned to go back home It wasn't down the way I'd known! I looked here and I looked there But my house wasn't anywhere! A kind old lady walked across the street I wondered if our paths would meet I asked my feelings for advice And we decided that she seemed nice So I told her I was lost, you see, And she said she would help me I showed her my 'Help Me Child I D' And to my home she did bring me! Yey!

9. KidSURE Safety Rule #3 - No and Go Tell

Another Golden Rule of Safety! Is it, don't pull you dog's tail? No, everybody knows that! Then what is it?
I say NO if someone tries to touch me in a way that feels uncomfortable or scary. Then I GO and TELL a safe person what happened. You're pretty smart, kid!

10. (Just Say) No and Go Tell

Yeah, all right
When I'm playing I can learn to protect myself, protect myself
Anywhere I go there's always someone near to help, someone near to help
If I get scared or if somebody bothers me, bothers me
I can say these words and help will come to me, say these words,

chorus
If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!' If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!
If I'm afraid I just say 'No, and Go Tell! and help will, come to me Help will come to me, oh yeah,

Even when I'm with some people that I know, that I know If they make me scared or feel weird then I'll go, then I'll go

chorus
If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!' If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!
If I'm afraid I just say 'No, and Go Tell! and help will, come to me Help will come to me, oh yeah,

You know, most people in the world are really nice There are big people and small people, loud people and quiet people
Funny people, serious people People that we like, people that we're not sure about yet
But we all have this little voice inside of ourselves that helps us everyday
And if you're ever with someone who is scaring you or asking you to go somewhere with them
That voice will say 'No!' and it's time for you to go and tell someone you trust what happened
Let's try it, Say 'No, and Go Tell!', Say 'No, and Go Tell!'

chorus
If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!' If I'm scared I just say 'No, and Go Tell!
If I'm afraid I just say 'No, and Go Tell! and help will, come to me (repeat)

Help will come to me, oh yeah, Help will come to me, alright, Help will come to me, oh yeah

Oh, yeah, alright kids! Now, one of the golden rules of safety is always check first with the person taking care of you before you go anywhere or start to do something new.

Before I go, over to somebody's house, or across the street, or especially in a car somewhere, oh

Check, check, check, I'm gonna check Check, check, check, I'm gonna check Check, check, check,
Everybody clap your hands, Check, check, check, What are we going to do?

Gonna check it, gonna check it, gonna check it with my Momma, Gonna check it, gonna check it, gonna check it with my Dad,
Gonna check it, gonna check it, gonna check it with my Grandma, Gonna check it, gonna check it, gonna check it with my Grandpa, too,
Before I go, oh, you better believe it, I won't go anywhere, until I

Check, check, check, check it first, I'm gonna check!

Another Golden Rule of Safety! Is it, don't play with matches? No, everybody knows that! Oh, what is it?
I stay away from dangerous places when I’m playing outside. It’s cool to play safe. Cool.

14. Stop, Look and Listen

Ah, here we are! Standing at the street. We have to look out for all the cars. What is it that we have to do again? There are three little things. Do you know what they are?

chorus
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, before I cross I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, at a crosswalk
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, from the sidewalk I'm growing, and it's showing

Oh, oh! Did I remember to stop?
I'm stopping, (stopping) I'm stopping, (stopping) I'm looking, (looking) I'm looking, (looking)
I'm looking from the sidewalk, looking both ways Going to cross the street so safely

chorus
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, before I cross I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, at a crosswalk
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, from the sidewalk I'm growing, and it's showing

Oh, oh! Did I remember to look?
I'm looking, (looking) I'm looking, (looking) I'm listening (listening)
and I'm looking I'm looking from the sidewalk, looking both ways Going to cross the street so safely

chorus
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, before I cross I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, at a crosswalk
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, from the sidewalk I'm growing, and it's showing

Oh, oh! Did I remember to listen? I'm listening (I'm listening) I'm listening (I'm listening) I'm looking, (I'm looking) and I'm listening (I'm listening)
I'm listening from the sidewalk, looking both ways Going to cross the street so safely

chorus
I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, before I cross I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, at a crosswalk I'm gonna Stop, Look and Listen, from the sidewalk I'm growing, and it's showing (repeat x 3) I'm going to stop!

15. KidSURE Safety Rule #7 - I'm O.K.

Another Golden Rule of Safety! Is it, don't bite your dog? No, everybody knows that! What is it?
I am an O.K. person. A lot of people care about me and will listen to me. I know safe adults that I can talk to or ask for help. You are fantastic!

16. My Song

Hey kids, now we're going to learn something really fun!
Singing is a great way to learn, and we're going to learn to sing our address and our phone number, in our own song, and we'll never be lost!

This song is your song, your own very special safety song It's all about you,
it's all about your family too

Now I'm going to sing a song all about someone very special that I know. Someone just like you.
Now this is to teach you how to sing your own song. Now this song is about Zoe, so sing along!

My name is Zoe, and 17 Safety Avenue, is where I live
My family live there too
and 123-4567, is my phone number, yeah 123-4567 is what I sing and my phone will ring
My name is Zoe, and 17 Safety Avenue, is where I live
My family live there too

Okay, now it's time for you to sing your own very special safety song. You can sing your name, your address and your phone number.
So ask your parents to help. Are you ready? Here we go!

(Sing your name!) (and your address) Is where I live,
my family live there too
(And your phone number) is my phone number, yeah (sing it again!) Is what I sing and my phone will ring,
my name is (sing your name) (and your address) Is where I live,
my family lives there too

This song is my song, my song (repeat)

17. KidSURE Safety Rule #6 - Help Me Child ID

Another Golden Rule of Safety! Okay, is it, don't pull Uncle Billy-Bob's finger? No, everybody knows that! Oh, what is it?
I always carry my Kidsure Help Me Child I.D. in case I get lost or hurt. I know how to use it but if I forget, I can ask a safe adult to help me.

18. Safety Neighbourhood Reprise

Some of the most uplifting highly energetic children's music I have heard!

You will start off tapping your toe, snapping your fingers then, clapping your hands and finally before you know it you will be dancing the day away. I speak from experience having had this happen to me at one Dan's performances during Week of the Child.
Make a Bridge has some of the most uplifting highly energetic children's music I have heard. The songs have creative fun lyrics that involve everyone who listens. I know children that bath with Dan's CD playing in the bathroom, children that play it while they're going to sleep. I have a friend who listens to Make a Bridge in the car whether her children are with her or not!

Make a Bridge is the kind of music that energizes you on rainy days or during those grey days of winter. Make a Bridge is a CD that should be added to music collections in child care centres, schools and homes.

Impressed by both the original songs and the production values!
Really enjoyed the albums and was quite impressed by both the original songs and the production values. With that in mind, I’ll start spinning a few of the tracks, specifically “Alphabet Soup”, “Roller Coaster” and “Monkey Time” beginning this week.
